Domaine Reine Margot: a historical heritage
Little known to Parisians, this gem of heritage has a rich history and has served as refuge for personalities such as Bossuet, Fénelon and even the future king Louis XIII. But most of all it was the secret place of Marguerite de Valois known as “Queen Margot” to take shelter there in 1606 to escape the plague and the tumult of Paris. After being there property of the Sulpicians, This original building, listed as a Historic Monument, has become a retirement home for priests until 2015. And after 5 years of work, the building was transform into… a 5-star hotel with 83 roomsthanks to the collaboration between the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux, the Compagnie des Prêtres de Saint-Sulpice, the Accor group and the architectural firm Wilmotte & Associés.
Domaine Reine Margot: a timeless estate
Located on a hill offers this unique establishment a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower and the roofs of Paris. It embodies the Accor Group’s vision of creation a timeless placecombining the history of the area with an exceptional customer experience. The architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte conceived the estate as a journey through time, expertly blended 17th century architecture with a new contemporary building called “Sulpice”. The rehabilitation of the 17th century “Margot” building, listed as a Historic Monument, has preserved it legacy during offering ten superior rooms and suites, each carefully designed by the Wilmotte team, in collaboration with heritage artisans. The new “Sulpice” building is spread over three levels, where a contemporary facade works harmoniously with that of the existing building.
The new building of the Domaine de la Reine Margot houses 72 rooms and suites, each with a unique atmosphere. The bedrooms on the ground floor open onto small private terraces overlooking the garden, while the top floor rooms have a balcony with panoramic views.
But the highlight of the estate’s show remains his deconsecrated chapel. Decorated with dark woodwork, it gets the look of a speak simply and houses one of the largest collections of rum in France. Another miracle: the allotment of the estate that inspires the bistronomic cuisine of the “Marguerite 1606” restaurant, with an emphasis on comforting and traditional plant-based dishes.
